To prove to the world that you should never place a limit on another person. When someone puts their heart into something, they can achieve anything. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is, you can achieve anything through hard work.
I don’t believe it is a challenge, I think it is an opportunity. If you give someone the opportunity to succeed and they want it bad enough, they will find a way to make it happen. This is about giving Eliud the opportunity to break 2hrs. Once we do that, there is no limit for him.
This is personal for me and my family. On March 12, 2018, our son, Wyatt, was born with Down syndrome. Wyatt has had many medical challenges including open heart surgery, restricted growth, feeding difficulties, and many other adversities. He had to spend 67 days in the hospital when we was born. He has a 3 feeding therapists, an occupational therapist, physical therapist, and a speech therapist. My wife is an absolute warrior in providing the opportunity for him to succeed. We have been inspired by Eliud since I was fortunate to work with him on the Nike Breaking 2 project. His quote, “no human is limited,” resonates with us and we believe that Wyatt can overcome any challenge he is faced. I see the same opportunity in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge. If we can provide Eliud every opportunity to succeed, then he will overcome this barrier and make history.
